Photoshop
Following are just a few of the many projects I have completed in Photoshop.
Portfolio exhibit #10 – PSA Poster: I completed this Public Service announcement poster in 2018 for a Photoshop class at Garrett College. The assignment was to create a PSA that would draw attention. The attack on the Twin Towers is ingrained in the minds of most Americans as being a huge tragedy. I used that to draw attention to the fact that more people die of texting and driving each year. I used Photoshop to edit and place all of the skeletons in the pile, in addition to placing a cell phone on the tower. There were some people that did not think the message was appropriate, but it accomplished the assignment of drawing attention.
Portfolio exhibit #11 – Magazine Cover: I produced this magazine cover in Photoshop for a class with Garrett College in 2018. I shot the photo of the young lady standing on a hay wagon so that I could point the camera at the sky to get a washed-out background which provided good contrast between the subject and the background. I had the subject wear white against the white background to give it more of a polished and contemporary look. I used pink for the “Seventeen” to enhance the warm color of her face and lips. The dreamy look on the subject’s face is intended to connect with other teen girls.
Portfolio exhibit #12 – Movie Poster: I completed this movie poster as a surprise for my daughters in 2019. I constructed the entire poster from Photoshop, placing faces of the family on the bodies of other models. The girl in the foreground was only eight at the time. Models were removed from their original backgrounds and placed on the poster background. The unusual background was created from two different pictures. Text was added as well. Of a particular challenge was the fact that the computer I was using didn’t have enough RAM to run Photoshop, so the only tool I had at my disposal to cut out images was the eraser tool.
Portfolio exhibit #13 – Menu: I made this menu in 2019 for a local restaurant with Photoshop. I used the technique of stretching the images outward at the bottom corners to give them a 3 D effect. The colors of the menu were selected to give the menu a modern, yet home-cooking feel. I retained some of the background of the images to add to the illusion of the viewer seeing the food in a natural setting. This also added to the home-cooking vibe.
