“I went back to school to get my degree in Digital Media and Web Technology because I felt like it was my calling. It has always been my desire to use my skills for the Lord.” – Jeannie

Where It All Began

I gave my life to the Lord when I was 14, and my life was forever, profoundly changed. In my 20’s, He led me to a job for a well-known entertainer who, though he was a secular actor; singer; and movie producer, strongly desired to witness to his fans and lead them to Christ. I worked for him for 10 years and was involved with merchandising and public relations, including running his fan club and website.

It was then that my Graphic Design story began. In those early year, I was responsible for all of the print and digital media for my boss, including newsletters; advertisements; merchandise design; and web design and development. I wrote all of the copy and did all of the design and publishing. My boss was involved in many genres, from acting on television and the big screen to music, off-Broadway, and even signing with POPS orchestras around the country. So, my assignments were quite varied in their voice and focus. It gave me a strong foundation.

I found that I loved every minute of design and writing, from creating the newsletters to building the website. But no matter how much I learned on the job, I felt there was so much more I could learn. So, back in 2017, I decided to go back to college and study Graphic Design and Web Development. I graduated in 2018 with an Associates of Applied Science in Web and Graphic Design, and in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Media and Web Technology, which I took in conjunction with a certificate in Digital Marketing.

Graphic Design and Writing Through the Years

Back when I was in my teen years, I had two dreams. I wanted to be a graphic designer, and most importantly, I wanted to win souls for Christ. At the time, I didn’t envision how the two could synergize. I thought if I wanted to work for the Lord, I needed to be a good speaker. But yet, my skillset clearly leaned more heavily on writing, creativity, and design than on speaking.

The Lord often gives us the desires of our heart, or maybe it is that he puts the desire in our heart and leads us to it. I’ve spent many years writing and designing newsletters, brochures, flyers, social media posts and ads, email newsletters, and websites. And as I look back, I see that teenage dream unfold. Not through words from a pulpit but through ideas put forth silently on script or page and designs that depict the message of others, the body-language of the written word.

A Job at Liberty University

Working for Liberty would be a new and beautiful chapter in that dream. Portfolios and resumes are meant to speak of the superiority of the person and the skillset of that person. I have many skills, but I would be vain to claim mine are the best. So, instead, what I will say is that my skill comes from the Lord. My abilities are through Him. And I trust that if He wants you to consider me, He will speak to your heart.
